Guidance
We follow God’s will through His guidance for us in our lives and through the direction He leads us to take, which we can find out through prayer and His Word.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
We trust in God’s plan for how our life unfolds according to His will. We accept what happens. For example, if we pray about X and we get Y, we know God has His reasons and we humbly accept Y even though we may not know the reason, but in due time and in hindsight, we will see the beauty of it all.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end. (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
Prayer
We follow God’s will through answered prayers. When we pray and God shows us what His will is for us, let us accept His guidance and direction with serenity and trust, because we know that our prayers are always answered with either a ‘yes’ or ‘something better’ for us. God never gives us something bad because He is faithful to those who love Him, and He only wants the best for us.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)
Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. (1 John 5:14-15)
Sermons
At times, we may have questions regarding our life or our faith. As long as we remain humble to seek God’s will and plan for our lives, our questions will be answered where we will better understand His plan for us. God answers us in different ways, and one way is through sermons where we hear what we need to hear. We may wonder about something or feel helpless, but God will help us find answers through His Word. Sometimes, a sermon really speaks to us or our current situation, and by faith we know that God is answering us through a sermon.
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)
Conclusion
As long as we are willing to seek God’s will, He will make it known in His own way His will and plan for us. Have we paid enough attention to God’s answers in our lives, whether it be through His guidance, the answering of our prayers, or Him answering us through sermons? Let our ears be inclined to Him, and our eyes ever looking unto our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
