Three Little Things We Still Need

What are we taking into the second half of the year?

Have you ever watched a movie where something dramatic and scary happens, like a flood or an earthquake? Those stories are exciting to witness, but they also remind us that our world is not permanent, not always safe or perfect. The Bible tells us that one day, everything will come to an end, and we should always be ready. How can we prepare? At the start of the lap towards another end of the year, let’s think about three important things we might still need to grow in.

First, we need to give glory to God. We don’t just say we love God—we show it by how we live. When we are kind, honest, and helpful, we shine like lights for Him. When we do wrong things or make mistakes, God’s goodness in us is dimmed. So, honouring God with our words and our actions everyday is how we glorify Him.

Second, we need to keep loving others. Sometimes, we may get tired of being kind, especially if someone is constantly mean to us. God teaches us and shows us through Jesus that love is something we should never stop giving or expect in return. True love comes from the heart—it is patient, forgiving, and caring. The smallest of acts, like sharing or helping a friend, are big enough to show God’s love.

Third, we need to tell others about God. There are many people who do not know about God and His love yet. Sharing this good news can be as easy as inviting a friend to church or telling them that God understands and cares for them. We don’t have to be afraid—we are about God's business, so He will help us.

We can never repay all that God has done for us, He only asks for the simplest: love Him and others with all our hearts, minds and souls. Let’s do our best to grow, little by little, starting with these three ways.

Family Altar

Use these discussion questions and our prayer as a guide for your family altar.

Parents can lead the prayer and invite their children to repeat after them or encourage their children to take the lead, making family altar time a shared journey of faith.

Discussion Questions:

  • What does it mean to glorify God in our daily lives?

  • Can you think of a time when it was hard to love someone? What did you do?

  • Who is one person you can share God’s love with this week?

Prayer in Words:

In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray.

Thank You for loving us so much.

Help us honour You in everything we do.

Teach us to love others kindly and sincerely, especially when it is hard.

Give us courage to share Your love with friends and family.

Please help us grow to be more like You everyday.

Hallelujah, Amen.
